The Friends of St James the Less gives an opportunity for people from Lancing, and beyond, to support our historic building, to help raise funds to maintain the fabric and structure of St James to enable it to stay open and continue to serve the community.
Support for the future
The ancient Church of St James the Less has served the community of Lancing for over 1000 years. It is open every day for visitors as a comfortable space where all are made to feel welcome and safe. Although an historic place of great interest, we are dependent upon donations, legacies, gifts given by those who attend church services and fundraising activities.
Who are the Friends?
- We are made up of people from across the community of Lancing and beyond, whether churchgoers or not.
- We are keen to preserve the heritage of our parish church and for the community to enjoy it.
- We raise funds to repair the building and improve its facilities.
- We run community events that encourage everyone in Lancing to use and enjoy this unique building.
Members receive invitations to events, updates on progress – and sometimes requests for help!
